On the past 7th of May, the semifinal of the Junior Chemistry Olympics (Olimpíadas de Química Júnior) took place at the FCTUC Department of Chemistry, organized by Sara Pinto (Coordinator of the Coimbra Delegation of the Portuguese Chemical Society) with the support of the Catalysis & Fine Chemistry Research Group, which involved the participation of 60 students from 20 schools from the Central region of Portugal.
In addition to the competition, the event included a Lecture/Debate “Green Chemistry in Elementary and Secondary Schools”, given by Mariette Pereira and the Oral Communication with Practical Demonstration entitled “Bioplastics – a more sustainable alternative”.
