Prize “Projeto Semente de Investigação Interdisciplinar 2022”

The Prize “Projetos Semente de Investigação Científica Interdisciplinar”, in the UC strategic area of Climate, Energy and Mobilities, by University of Coimbra and Santander Universidades, was awarded to Rui Carrilho, with the Project “CO2BioFilter – a Bio-Filter for Carbon Dioxide Capture and Valorization: A Sustainable Approach towards Environment, Health and Circular Economy”. This project consists in using food waste to obtain carbon materials that, after modifying their structural properties, allow the creation of an efficient bio-filter for CO₂ capture. The captured CO₂ will then be used in the chemical synthesis of new molecules with potential antibacterial properties, addressing the principles of Sustainability and Circular Economy.
